Cody Townsend, originally from California, has become one of the most awarded free skiers in history. His journey from being a beach kid obsessed with the mountains to standing atop the pinnacle of the sport is remarkable. Townsend has shown his versatility in the field, transitioning from a successful alpine ski racing career to stunt skiing for Hollywood blockbuster films. He has also skied the “Most Insane Line Ever” and taken on ski mountaineering North America’s “Fifty Most Classic Ski Descents,” demonstrating his ability to ski the most challenging and dangerous lines with ease​.

Townsend has a long list of awards to his name. He won the Best Male Performance at the Powder Video Awards 2014, and topped the Powder Poll at the Powder Video Awards 2020. His other notable achievements include winning Best Line and Full Throttle at the Powder Video Awards 2014, Best Male Freeride Segment and Best Single Shot at the IF3 Montreal Film Festival 2014, and Best Ski Segment at the NYC Snow Film Festival 2010. Townsend consistently appeared in the Top Ten Reader’s Poll of Powder Magazine Awards from 2012 to 2020, and he was named Best Male Performance by Freeskier Magazine in 2008​.

In addition to these, Townsend has shown his competitive edge in various skiing competitions. He took the 1st place at the Swatch Big Mountain Pro Invitational 2010 and was the team captain when they won the Swatch Skier’s Cup in 2012 and 2014. He also secured the 2nd place at the Swatch Big Mountain Pro Invitational 2008, 3rd place at the Freeride World Tour Verbier Extreme 2008, and 1st place at the Freeride World Qualifier Mammoth 2008​.
